Beyond Books

Public programme, curated, 2020

Three hybrid evenings in December 2020, part of the Bookshop Situation series at Index. The series presents books, magazines, records and other formats; Beyond Books asked how artistic practice can carry research to an audience, and how research feeds back into art. Each evening took place partly in the Index exhibition space and partly online, streamed live.

  • 1 December: Sci-fi as a Form of Reflection. My film in progress, They Know We Know They Lie.
  • 8 December: Dance as a Form of Resistance. Isabella Solar Villaseca on the Chilean cueca, the national dance taken over by the dictatorship and danced in protest by the women searching for the disappeared.
  • 15 December: Manuscript on Accumulation. Vibe Overgaard’s performance and objects tracing economic accumulation from the feudal system to today.
